From the Curators
A note on who we are, what we collect and how we decide what goes on a placard.
An independent gallery
Catalogpicuriorocket is published by Catalogpicuriorocket Editions Ltd, a small independent publisher in London. We are not a museum, a space agency or a manufacturer, and we are not affiliated with any of the institutions named in our rooms. We receive no payment from them.
The idea is simple: present the history of the rocket the way a good gallery presents objects, slowly, with context, and with an honest note of provenance.
How we hang an exhibit
- Primary first. We prefer original documents: Goddard's 1919 monograph, Tsiolkovsky's 1903 paper, museum catalogue records.
- Legends labelled. Stories such as Wan Hu are shown, but marked as folklore.
- Whole portraits. Where a pioneer's work involved war or forced labour, the label says so.
- Approximate means approximate. Figures such as specific impulse are given as ranges, because engines vary.
Corrections
Placards are revised when visitors find errors. If you spot one, write us a visitor card or email [email protected]. We note substantive changes at the foot of the affected room.
Nothing in this gallery is professional, engineering or travel advice. Museum opening times and exhibits change; check with each institution before visiting.
